Palette Audit

Palette Accessibility Audit

Paste your palette and the tool compares every pair, marking the AA passes so you avoid readability traps early.

About the audit

Why audit

Whether a palette looks good is subjective, but whether it is readable is not. WCAG requires at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text.

Reading the result

Each cell is the contrast ratio between two colors; green means it meets AA for body text, red means it fails. The diagonal (self contrast) is irrelevant and shows “—”.

Common mistake

Checking only one “primary + background” pair is not enough — hovers, overlays and tints add new combinations that all need to pass.

About this tool

📘

Palette audit batch-checks every pair of a color set for WCAG contrast, catching readability risks early.

  • Paste a set of colors (one per line or comma-separated) and the tool checks every pair.
  • Failing pairs are highlighted so you can swap them promptly.
  • Re-paste after fixing until all key combinations pass.

Tips

💡
  • Use at least 2-3 colors to mimic real foreground, background and accent roles.
  • Green = meets AA body text (>=4.5:1), red = fails; fix red cells first.
  • Re-paste after changes - hovers and tints add combinations that must also pass.
