Hue rotation
Rotating hue at fixed lightness yields a same-family series — handy for derived palettes.
ΔE
Under CIEDE2000, ΔE<1 is barely visible, ≈5 clearly visible, >10 totally different.
About this tool
📘Hue tune rotates the hue and nudges saturation/lightness against the original, quantifying the shift as a ΔE difference.
- Pick a base, rotate the hue and watch the same-family variations live.
- The tool reports the CIEDE2000 difference (ΔE) from the original so you can control the change.
- Copy a new color you like or send it to Color Scale to build steps.
Tips
💡- Small hue rotation (±15°) gives a same-family variant — good for derived palettes.
- Below ΔE 1 the eye can't really tell; push the difference to be visible.
- Lightening also lowers perceived saturation; nudge lightness together to keep it.
